Rules/Policy for RMAF Showcasing
The RMAF Directors have established the following policies for the 2008 Showcases:


The RMAF Directors have established the following policies for Showcase Selection. The RMAF Showcase Committee has sole authority in the selection and development of the showcase schedules. Selection of acts will be based on the originality and talent of the act, capability of production at the showcase facility, and appropriateness to fair audiences.

A: Showcase application and cancellation / replacement

1: Applications for a showcase will be mailed to Service member on March 1, 2008.


2: Application Fee Structure shall be as follows:


a. - 20 minute Showcase $250.00
b. - Strolling Showcase $50.00


3: A three-member review committee consisting of the Current President, The Executive Secretary, and the Showcase Chairman shall review and score the applications. The Showcase Chairman shall then notify the successful applicants as to the Showcase time slots that were selected for them. When the applicant is notified, they are required to respond. Upon acceptance of the assigned 20- minute showcase slot the Showcase fee becomes non-refundable. If the applicant is not successful in obtaining a showcase slot then 100% of the showcase fee shall be refunded.


4: Replacement of late cancellation shall be offered to the original applicants on the basis of score. Cancellation by a specific promoter’s artist does not guarantee that respective promoter the opportunity to fill the vacated showcase slot.


5: At least one person from a showcasing agency or independent act will pay the full registration fee for the convention.
Application Forms/Support Materials

Completed applications must be returned with the following required support material:

a. Application Fee


b. Audio cassette or CD - sufficient selections to depict talent, originality, etc. -
Musical and variety stage acts that incorporate musical performance


c. VHS 1/2" video recording or DVD (A quality video or DVD - 10 to 12 minutes long, may enhance your chances of being selected.)


d. References and/or Letters of Recommendation from Fairs - OPTIONAL.


e. Diagram of stage plot including list of stage props, technical requirements
(Stage acts only)


f. Promotional packet to include 8"x10" black and white photo suitable for publication.

 

 

 

 

B: Length of Showcases: Showcases shall not exceed 20 minutes. A warning system will be used to notify the artist of the amount of time left in the showcase slot. A $100.00 fine will be assessed to the artist that exceeds the 20-minute time limit. The artist or the promoter representing said artist shall not be considered for a future showcase application until the fine is paid. D: Showcasing in Rooms: Artists are allowed to showcase within service member rooms as long as the showcasing does not interfere with any service member’s ability to do business. Upon receipt of a legitimate complaint, a Showcase Committee member shall request that the problem be resolved. If the offending party refuses to work with the Showcase Committee member to resolve the issue, the service member’s room will be closed and the membership will be notified of the violation and the subsequent closure of the room. E: Promotional Materials (Placement and Method): Promotional materials shall be displayed in common areas as allowed by the Host Hotel. No Promotional materials shall be placed on other service member’s rooms or walls. Approved method of attachment shall be painters tape or scotch tape. No staples, tacks, packing tape, or any material deemed harmful to the finish on the wall or door surface. Violators will be responsible for the cost of repair as submitted by the Hotel and approved by the board. Failure to comply will result in a loss of promotional privileges for a period of 1 year.
F: Interference With Others Ability To Do Business: Flagrant interference with another’s ability to do business will not be tolerated and will result in a suspension of membership privileges for a period of 2 years. RMAF will not be responsible for promotional material left unattended outside rooms. Hallways must be kept clear in appliance with the Hotel fire codes. G: Strolling Acts: Strolling Acts will be scheduled in specific areas at specific times. They are to be non-amplified performers (if musical, they shall be acoustic). The RMAF Showcase Chairperson will set the schedule for Strolling Host Performers. No strolling act may showcase outside of their rooms unless scheduled by the committee. In addition, each act will receive an advance schedule of Convention events and programs along with a layout of the Convention site. Every effort is made to ensure that all performances coincide with highly trafficked areas and events throughout the Convention schedule.
